Today, I say goodbye to my soul dog, my best friend, and a piece of my heart. Cori Nathen Layell, lovingly known as "Cori Bug," blessed my life for over 17 wonderful years and left behind a love that can never be replaced.
Cori wasn't just a dog—he was my constant companion. He followed me everywhere, even walking in circles beside me just to be close. He loved car rides, beach trips, and our daily walks, even when age made those walks a little slower. His favorite treats were pup cups and scrambled eggs, and seeing his excitement over the simple things brought so much joy to my life.
He had the sweetest soul and would let me hold him like a baby, resting peacefully in my arms. Through every illness and every difficult season I faced, Cori never left my side. His unconditional love, loyalty, and comfort carried me through some of the hardest moments of my life. In many ways, he saved me when I needed him the most.
The silence he leaves behind is overwhelming, and my heart is broken without my little buddy here beside me. But I will forever be grateful for every cuddle, every wagging tail, every adventure, and every ounce of love he gave so freely.
Thank you, my sweet angel, for choosing me to be your mommy and for loving me so completely. You will always be my soul dog, and a part of me will always belong to you.
Until we meet again in Heaven, run free, my precious Cori Bug. I can't wait to hold you in my arms again.
